Empire Rising, a chronological summary.

2674

- The Earth Alliance enters a neutral region of the Southwest Quadrant that it originally populated with a deep-space, long-range colonization effort centuries ago. Their intention is to reunite the colonies into the Earth government. They are met with resistance from the now completely independent planets.
- Cincor Kala establishes himself as a spokesman against Earth reunification across a pocket of neutral space that will become the Kala Empire.
- The Wietikie, a felinoid race hired by the Earth Alliance, initiate a biological strike against Cincor Kala’s home system, Insrisa, in order to persuade the necessity for Earth intervention in the region.
- A small military force developed by the neutral colonies and lead by Cincor Kala launches a counterattack against the Wietikie, who are refueling in Earth Alliance territory. There are no Wietikie or Earth survivors. Hostilities between the colonies and Earth ignite.
- Official declaration of neutral colony unification under a new central government eventually deemed the Kala Empire after Cincor Kala, who is named Chancellor because of his leadership of the colonies thus far.

2675

- In the Telrius system, the Wietikie conduct another biological strike. Like the Insrisa system, all life is eradicated on all planets. A fourteen-year-old boy named Angel survives in a prototype star fighter conducting flight tests and is rescued by neutral military forces that arrive to repel the Wietikie. Angel’s entire family is lost. The boy himself is a mystery due to his mysteriously glowing blue eyes.

2677

- Angel joins a Kala Naval Academy in the Uridese system after serving on a warship for two years as an “intern.” He is promoted to the ‘Soldier’ Elite Forces program, which functions as a soldiers-for-hire group in developing Kala worlds. Angel’s group leader is Jonathon Erano.
- Éva Metiste and Angel meet at the Uridese Academy. They enter a relationship.

2678

- Jonathon Erano and Éva Metiste engage in a secret relationship.
- Angel is expelled from the Uridese Naval Academy for the attempted murder of Jonathon Erano. He is sentenced to a lifetime in prison camp, but his transport is hijacked by General Eugene Reilly, operating on behalf of Kala Central Intelligence (KCI). Angel is recruited by KCI, his death falsified when the transport is destroyed. Angel suspects his eyes and enhanced humanoid abilities are the reason.

2679

- While training at a KCI Facility in the Insepta system, Angel meets Terrence Houston. The pair are permanently assigned to the same unit.

2680

- Internal political turmoil in the Kala Empire ignites in the Cyren system. On a land-based military rescue operation of the planetary nobility and governing forces of Cyren III, Angel comes into contact with Katrina Iseley. The two engage in a brief relationship before she departs for a Kala military academy.
- While assigned to the KIS Moloch, Angel and Houston meet Xohon, a military officer but also a student of psychiatry with an emotionless, Zen-like religious approach to life. The trio serves in the same unit.
- Jonathon Erano and Éva Metiste marry. The Eranos enter into the science and technology field and are placed on space station Sirione, where they conduct special and secret tests for Kala Central Intelligence.

2681

- Angel, Houston, and Xohon lead an assault team on an Earth installation to steal the USS Merrimac, a prototype Sniper class warship with many superior technologies. The ship is eventually renamed the KIS Merrimack, with the ‘k’ added for ‘Kala.’
- Many soldiers are lost in the operation, but Angel and his group join with a trio of Dark Hammers – Ralph, Butch, and Davis – to escape with the warship.
- Suspecting the mission was a set-up for failure, Angel protests to General Reilly, who ordered the operation. The General gives promotions to both Angel and Houston to keep them silenced. The KIS Merrimack is placed under Commander Angel’s command.
- The Earth Alliance establishes a blockade of the Kala border, cutting off all external trading routes and supply access.
- Angel and Houston are to be transferred to Algora One, a space station of some importance, but are instead transferred again to the KNC Lioness, a star fighter carrier, where their ranks are transferred to the Kala Marines.
- Lieutenant Colonel Angel and Major Houston engage a hostile alien race in fighter combat. Many fighters are lost and the Lioness suffers severe damage. The alien race disengages suddenly when energies involuntarily radiate from Angel’s body.
- Departing the Lioness without authorization, Angel and Houston establish themselves on Algora One, believing the alien race was another part of General Reilly’s unknown obsession against them.
- The former Algora One station commander, Kyetrin, engages in a deeply emotional relationship with Angel.
- Katrina Iseley graduates from military academy and is stationed on Algora One. Xohon, Butch, Ralph, and Davis also arrive.
- An alien vessel matching the hostile alien race that Angel and Houston engaged with the Lioness approaches Algora One and requests that they follow it. The Merrimack and Kyetrin’s vessel, the Black Plague, follow the vessel into an anomaly and are transported across the galaxy.

2682

- Due to incompatibilities in long-range space travel technologies, the Merrimack and the Black Plague do not arrive at their destination for seven months. The crew, however, is completely unaware of the time difference.
- The host race identifies themselves as the Seretti Regime and clarify their location as the Northeast Quadrant. A liason, Balin, introduces their society to Angel and his crew, further claiming that Angel is, in fact, also a Seretti.
- Furthermore, because of his blue eyes, a Seretti prophecy places Angel as the Val`sholk, a fighter that holds right to lead the Val`shi – the Seretti warrior caste – against any enemy of the Regime. Balin demonstrates the Seretti ability to manipulate elemental energies as a weapon to Angel.
- Angel is abducted one night by a man named Cor`el. Many tests are conducted on the Val`sholk before he is returned to his room. The tests dye Angel’s hair a whiter blonde, but his bodily energies and strength are somehow enhanced. There is no explanation.
- When he returns to Kala space, Lieutenant Colonel Angel convinces the Chancellor to formally declare an alliance between the Kala Empire and the Seretti Regime. As a result, the Kala/Seretti Alliance is born and an exchange of technologies begins.
- With the help of the Seretti military, the Kala Empire ends the Earth Alliance blockade of their border.
- On the planet Friton, Angel hires a young girl, Tureann, as a guide to a crystal-mining facility. She, too, is a Seretti but has never heard of her people previously. Once in control of the facility, Angel begins construction on the Archangel, a warship of hybrid technologies between the Kala and the Seretti.
- During the construction of the Archangel, a distress signal is received from space station Sirione. Angel investigates the disturbance and is reunited with Éva Erano. Their escape is halted by an alien creature. Éva is caught in the crossfire and killed. Sirione is sanitized with no survivors. Angel blames himself.
- In December, one of the gateways that the Seretti use for long-range hyperspace travel suffers a cataclysmic failure due to sabotage, creating an anomaly in the Seretti home system. Biological warships emerge from the fissure and attack, instantly defeating the surrounding military.

2683

- Tureann is abducted by a fanatical Seretti religious group called the Cult of Sitar, after the Seretti prophet Sitar, and taken to M`Shren base, a guard tower of sorts that looks after the gateway between Kala and Seretti space. Kyetrin and Major Terrence Houston are taken captive, as well, on their attempts to investigate. Angel mounts a rescue operation of his crew with the Archangel. They encounter another alien creature similar to the one from Sirione and destroy it.
- KCI Director Lillian Spaulding arrives at M`Shren with a task force. Joining with the Archangel, the task force moves through the gateway to Seretti space to aide their allies against an invading alien race.
- On the flight to Seretti space, Kyetrin explains her origins as a Calar Makistra (princess) to Angel and the bitter, hostile history that exists between the Seretti and the Calar. When they arrive in Seretti space, Kyetrin departs with Tureann and her security chief, Ryan Lascio, to the Calar homeworld.
- Balin with his Val`shi comrades Kilyd, Gavida, and Irgalach discover a system of underground tunnels and facilities on the Seretti homeworld that have been occupied by the invading alien race for many years. After securing the Seretti Prime Minister, Derel Sincola, the warriors escape the homeworld, now overrun by invading forces.
- Angel is sent to the Seretti home system to recover a host of government officials from a space station. On the station, Major Houston encounters one of the aliens that identifies himself as Ri`shen.
- Separated from the rest of the assault team, Angel is taken captive by one of the Ri`shen, who is the identical representation of Éva Erano. Balin arrives on the station and aides Angel and the Kala forces in their escape.
- Éva primes the infected Seretti gateway to bring the remainder of the Ri`shen invasion force into the Northeast Quadrant. A smaller assault force is sent to attack the Calar homeworld.
- Using collected organic samples from the Ri`shen, Captain Xohon conducts tests and explains the biology of the Ri`shen warriors, as well as the effects of the Ri`shen Plague. Once infected from body-to-body exposure, the plague works to alter the internal biology of the host and convert it to a full-fledged Ri`shen. This explains Éva’s reanimation.
- Angel plots to destroy the primary Seretti gateway, the result of which would completely destroy the entire Seretti home system, but all the Ri`shen along with it. During the strategy, a Ri`shen attack force crushes the Kala fleet. KCI Director Lillian Spaulding is lost.
- Taking the Archangel, Angel and Houston lead a small unit of ships on a suicide mission to destroy the gateway. The pair escapes the battle, but the Archangel is destroyed along with the gateway and the Seretti home system. Seven billion lives are eradicated.
- Arriving at the Calar homeworld, Angel is too late to save Kyetrin, who has been murdered during the Ri`shen attack, apparently by Éva Erano.
- Emotionally crushed on his return to Kala space, Angel prepares to leave Algora One on a quest for vengeance, but is halted by General Reilly, who explains his pre-existing knowledge of the Seretti and the Ri`shen, putting years of Angel’s service into perspective. Angel murders the General before departing the station in a stolen Stingray, leaving the Kala Empire behind him.

Sunset on the Empire

- Eight months later, a Kala civil war is brewing, speaking against the Seretti as the cause of so many Kala officer deaths because of the Ri`shen invasion. The opposition to Chancellor Cincor Kala is lead by his friend, the Supreme Commander of the Kala Navy, Grand Admiral Jeffery Supra. Lieutenant Colonel Terrence Houston is left to the command of Algora One by himself while Angel continues to lose himself in neutral space.
